ABSTRACT
The article presents information on studies on labor and industrial relations by researchers at the Iowa State University of Science and Technology in 1974. The focus of the center's research remains on interdisciplinary projects that will yield meaningful policy applications in the near future. A study by Willis J. Goudy, Robert O. Richards and David L. Rogers, all from the Department of Sociology, focuses on the social impact of industrialization on nonmetropolitan communities. Goudy and Richards are involved in a related study that focuses on transportation planning for selected rural Iowa communities. J. Peter Mattila of the Department of Economics is conducting a study of the relationship between labor force participation rates of older workers and area unemployment conditions.
