ABSTRACT
The author examines the principles and goals of humanitarian organizations. He focuses on the Code of Conduct of the Geneva Conventions which, the author believes, lack some principles essential to a community in peacetime. There is also a strain between the principles and application of these principles during actions, yet this tension does not nullify the need to respect these principles which aim to ease the suffering of those affected by disasters and crises.
