ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) which found that the Department of Defense (DOD) lacks the comprehensive analytic basis that is important in making decisions on the types and quantities of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) elements and interceptors it needs. GAO suggests that DOD should perform a comprehensive analysis that identifies requirements for BMDS elements and interceptors. Information on how GAO performed the study is offered.
