ABSTRACT
The article reports on the concerns raised by mental health charities over the detention plans of patients for the swine flu pandemic in Great Britain in 2009. Charities have raised concerns on suggested temporary alterations to the detention of patients under the Mental Health Act during the swine flu outbreak. According to Paul Farmer, Rethink and Mind's chief executive officer (CEO), any proposal that lessens the number of professionals in the sectioning process is worrying.
