The author reflects on the essays "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," by Sandra Tsing Loh which appeared in "The Atlantic," and "Is There Hope for the American Marriage," by Caitlin Flanagan which appeared in "Time," on the pros and cons over marriage. The author claims that Loh is an opponent of marriage, while Flanagan is a defender of it. Loh's essay describes her own marital collapse, her misgivings about what the divorce might do to her children and her conversations with friends and others. It discusses the criticisms on Flanagan's essay.
