The article focuses on the importance of decision-support tools to find a meaningful use from electronic health records (EHRs). According to Doctor John Haughom, PeaceHealth, a seven-hospital system in Bellevue, Washington, started its decision-support tool in 1997 and built its own data warehouse internally that is based on the Microsoft SQL Server. It now collects data from core systems including the EHR and has terabytes of data that can routinely guide in making decisions.
