ABSTRACT
The article discusses the financial implications of long-term maintenance of interpretation schemes in Scotland. It notes that badly maintained interpretation is prevalent which can be attributed to funding and staff cuts and absence of maintenance planning. It mentions that once a concept is developed one should start planning on how it should be maintained, its possible costs, and its feasibility. Moreover, it adds that interpretation elements do not last.
