ABSTRACT
The article reports on Baring Asset Management's assessment with regards to absolute return funds which may complicate multi-manager multi-asset portfolios. Multi-asset fund manager Andrew Cole believes that strategic asset allocation can be an obstacle since multi-managers have to market funds which may or may not have delivered returns. Moreover, it notes that absolute return funds may have possessed substantial budget weightings if the manager wants to reduce volatility.
