ABSTRACT
The article discusses the importance of risk management when dealing with anaesthesia. It states that unlike other industries such as manufacturing, risk management in British hospitals is lagging, and suggests that such be central to an anesthesiologist's routine. Recommendations include being involved in such at both the departmental and personal level, on a daily basis. Should something happen to a patient, it stresses the importance of finding the causes such as finding out who is responsible, and what machines or devices could have contributed.
