ABSTRACT
The article discusses the important factor for successful design and installation of ground-source heat pumps (GSHP) system. It notes that heating, piping and air conditioning engineers should know and evaluate the geological conditions, the bore-field size, depth and spacing and should review test wells before installation. It also notes that GSHP system designs require economic analysis, requiring a designer to model several schemes for loop size, depths and pumping efficiencies.
