The article presents information on the performance of Australian made M3 automobile racing cars from Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) at the event held at Bathurst, New South Wales in 1987. Six European-entered factory M3s were piloted by future and former Formula One (F1) aces like Emanuele Pirro, Johnny Cecotto, and Roland Ratzenberger. JPS Team BMW's cause was supported by rain in the latter stages of the race and the European-based drivers' aggressive approach to mastering the track.
