The article reports on the acquisition of the 49 percent stake of HSBC Merchant Service by Atlanta, Georgia-based Global Payments Inc. from its joint partner in Great Britain. The agreement will allow Global Payments to operate independently of the British bank. In April 2009, Global Payments acquired ZAO United Card Service and in the same month, Fidelity National Information Services agreed to acquire Metavante Technologies.
