ABSTRACT
The article reports on the acquisition of the wire harness and electrical distribution unit of Alcoa, Inc. by Platinum Equity, a private equity group based in California. Kevin Lowery, director of corporate communications at Alcoa, said the manufacturing facility of the company in Beloit, Wisconsin is for sale. It is noted that aside from Alcoa, Australian mining and resources company Rio Tinto is also struggling amidst the challenging economic downturn.
