ABSTRACT
The article features the impact of health-associated infections (HAIs) on hospitals in the U.S. It is vital for these facilities to take responsibility in reducing HAIs because of the risk they bring to patients. It is found that some hospitals are being sued due to HAI-caused illnesses and mortalities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are about 100,000 mortalities caused by HAIs, attributed to construction, maintenance and renovation activities.
