ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the acquisition by CVC Capital Partners of the iShares exchange-traded-funds business of Barclays Global Investors. The acquisition deal is valued at 4.4 billion U.S. dollars. As of December 2008, the assets management arm of Barclays had 325 billion U.S. dollars of assets under management. Particular focus is given to private equity firms bidding for American International Group's asset management business.
