Pulte Agrees To Acquire Centex

This article reports on the acquisition by residential construction firm Pulte Homes of its smaller competitor Centex Corporation. The acquisition deal is valued at 3.1 billion U.S. dollars. It is estimated that the deal will lead to savings of 250 million U.S. dollars for Pulte in overhead expenses annually and 100 million U.S. dollars in debt expense relief. Richard J. Dugas Jr. of Pulte says the transaction will enable the firm to take advantage of Centrex's land positions to Pulte's.
