ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of Liberty Media to spin off its entertainment division, Liberty Entertainment, to be merged into DirecTV Group Inc. According to Chase Carey, chief executive and president of DirecTV, the deal will improve their ability to pursue strategic initiatives that can enhance value for all DirecTV shareholders. After the deal, Liberty will consist of 54% of DirecTV common stock, Liberty Sports holdings and a 65% stake in Game Show Network and FUN Technologies.
