ABSTRACT
The article examines the decision of Canadian industry regulators to reject a deal that would have resulted in a U.S. buyer subsuming Canada's leading aerospace firm. Ambivalence over how regulators will use the Investment Canada Act was expressed by Canadian legal experts as the Act sets a specific number of guidelines for foreign acquirers. The failed deal involves American Alliant Techsystems' effort to purchase aerospace and defense company MacDonald Dettwiler.
