ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the business losses of several companies in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2009. AK Steel Holding Corp. experienced a continuous losses in the quarter though it moved closer to a return to profitability. Alcoa Inc. noted its third straight losing quarter though it continued to reduce the severity in the quarter. Allegheny Technologies Inc. posted a net loss for the quarter at $13.4 million on sales of $710.0 million.
