ABSTRACT
The article reports on the intention of India to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) concerning accusation that the European Union (EU) permitted large pharmaceutical firms to use the patent laws of the bloc to compel national customs agencies to detain generic drugs to be delivered to developing countries, according to "The Wall Street Journal." Over 20 Indian drug shipments have been held by border inspectors in the Netherlands and Germany in 2008. It is said that shipments were diverted in order to transit outside the EU.
