ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the use of the retrofit approach to upgrade the security system of Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BSPIIA) in Texas. The airport has been forced to revert its original manual keyed lock systems to comply with disruptions. The integration of a retrofitted electronic access control system by BSPIIA was able to generate savings.
