ABSTRACT
The article reports on the expected performance of the worldwide semiconductor industry in 2009. The research firm Gartner Inc. has recently forecast a worldwide semiconductor revenue decline of 17.1% year over year in 2009, as compared to its previous forecast of up to 24.1% year over year drop in February 2009. According to Gartner, the worldwide semiconductor revenue is estimated to total 212 billion dollars in 2009, as compared to 255 billion dollars in 2008.
