ABSTRACT
The article reports on the effort of financial services firm Aviva PLC on increasing its capital in preparation for acquisitions, while Legal & General Group PLC and Standard Life Assurance Co. rule out of the consolidation in 2009 in Great Britain. It is noted that Aviva PLC increased its capital surplus to 3.2 billion British pounds in comparison with two billion British pounds at year-end. The financial services firm is also selling a minority stake in its Dutch business Delta Lloyd Group.
