ABSTRACT
The article explores the lessons that hospitals and health facilities can obtain from the recipients of the American Hospital Association (AHA)-McKesson Quest for Quality Prize® for 2009. The common characteristics among honorees that contribute to their strong results are outlined, including transparency and openness to change everything for the better, patient- and family-centeredness and focus on patient safety. The honorees include Bronson Methodist Hospital, Beth Israel Medical Deaconess Medical Center and Duke University Hospital.
