The article focuses on ANSI/ISA 18.00.02, the first standard for the handling of alarm systems in the process industry. The said standard also focuses basically on the work processes and practices that an owner/operator should pursue to determine, document, create, operate and maintain an alarm system. It says that the function of the alarm system is to notify the operator of abnormal conditions so the operator can take corrective action, and that the system must be made for effective communication of a single alarm during regular operation.
