ABSTRACT
The article talks about industrial Ethernet, the networks that utilize Ethernet supplemented by mechanisms for securing quality of service. One of the various manufacturers and associations that have expanded their fieldbus variants to cover an Industrial Ethernet variant is Profinet, which comprises all aspects of industrial communication. It tackles the three approaches for Industrial Ethernet which can be distinguished by their various adaptations to Ethernet and the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) protocol.
