Discusses the measurement of the transient infrared (IR) spectrum of a large metal carbonyl cluster in carbon tetrachloride with one quanta of excitation in the carbon monoxide-stretch modes, by picosecond time-resolved IR saturation spectroscopy as a function of pump-probe time delay and polarization.

The cluster formation of hydrogen cyanide (HCN) in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) matrix was studied by IR and far IR spectroscopy. 4-Dibromomethyl-4-methyl-2,5-cyclohexadienone and its 2- and 3-methyl-substituted derivatives react with an equimolar amount of molecular bromine in carbon tetrachloride, yielding vinyl bromination products at the α-position with respect to the carbonyl group. The reaction of...

Among the physico-chemical methods that can be used to investigate induced peroxidation in living cells, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy appears to be a valuable technique as it is non-destructive and sensitive for monitoring changes in the vibrational spectra of samples. We...

We have studied the IR absorption spectra of cholesterol in the presence of diisopropyl sulfoxide in carbon tetrachloride. We show that complexation of cholesterol with diisopropyl sulfoxide occurs as a result of formation of a hydrogen bond between the hydrogen of the hydroxyl group of the...

We report on three experiments on carbon tetrachloride subjected to extreme conditions. In the first experiment, Raman spectra of CCl4 were acquired up to 28 GPa. Evidence was observed for at least two new phases of CCl4 above 14 GPa (phase VI) and above 22 GPa (phase VII). Decompression of the...

IR-Fourier spectroscopy methods are adopted to the study of intramolecular interactions occurring in CCl4 solutions of antivirally active derivatives of N-(3,5-di- tert-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)acetamide. Analysis of IR spectra has shown that intramolecular H-bonds O–H···O=C and...
