The article focuses on the enterprise content management (ECM). It notes that ECM has a 50 percent failure rate and produce disappointing results for some companies. The attributes of EMCs are brevity and clarity and its various definitions aim to be vendor-friendly. EMCs are seen as a basis for true return on investment that measures a company's success in achieving a goal. The author concludes that ECMs should be a winning business solution but companies must first identify business problems.
