ABSTRACT
The article reports on the operation of the N-Viromotive 2GS-14B 1,400-hp GenSet locomotives of National Railway Equipment Co. in New Jersey. The ultra-low emission GenSet locomotives will be used to switch freight cars within CSX Transportation yards in the state and will also be utilized for road switching service. It discusses the reduced nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide emissions of the locomotives. Howard R. Elliott, CSX Transportation vice president of public safety and environment, talks about its move to operate GenSet.
