ABSTRACT
Shadows play an important role in adding realism to virtual reality applications. But it is hard to compute shadows realistically with today's hardware. It is important to see the differences of each shadowing system and use the suitable one as needed. This work compares the current shadowing algorithms which generate hard shadows with respect to their performances, memory usage and quality. The goal of this work is to provide to graphics application developers with information about each shadowing algorithm and to allow them to choose the best one suited to their needs.
