ABSTRACT
A report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is presented which describes the air quality and visibility around Great Basin National Park in Nevada and evaluates the potential impact of coal-fired power plants on the air quality. It discusses ozone levels and possible effects of the power plants, local opinions and explains the designation of the park as a Class II area under the Clean Air Act. The dispute between the energy companies and the National Park Service (NPS) is discussed.
