The article focuses on American composer Elliott Carter and his musical style. It explores the influences of various composers to Carter's music including Charles Ives, Schoenberg, Stravinsky, and Copland. It notes Carter's adaptations of ideas around him to develop a unique way of composing. It says that Carter's works has a real change to succeed with wider audience since it works on many levels. Among Carter's works are the "Variations for Orchestra," and the "Symphony of Three Orchestras."
