ABSTRACT
This article features the career of Fatima Tlisova as an investigative journalist in the North Caucasus region of Russia. It looks at the stories covered and revealed by Tlisova. It cites the injustice of villagers being poisoned by pollution from a nuclear laboratory. It recalls that Tlisova risked her life for sharing truths considered harmful to those in power. The article notes that Tlisova received the 29th Louis M. Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism for her work.
