ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the improvements needed to strengthen the management of the Veterans Affairs (VA) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in order to achieve full interoperability. It relates to the failure of both agencies to achieve their goal in establishing an interoperable electronic health record systems. However, U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) recommends the need to establish a project plan and integrated master schedule to guide their interoperability activities.
