ABSTRACT
The article reports on the study conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the use of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) funds by 16 states and their localities. Specifically, the study looks into states' and localities' uses of Recovery Act funds, the approaches taken to ensure accountability and states' plans to evaluate the impact of received funds. It is noted that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) accepted GAO's recommendations.
