The article discusses how financial firms can save on heating, air conditioning and power costs incurred in the process of sending and receiving market data messages. Tervela, a New York-based middleware provider reportedly builds circuitry into data switches that hastens communications on less energy. It mentions that Tervela launched its TMX-500 Message Switch, a third-generation messaging platform which can process 16,000 per second per watt, on June 23, 2009 during the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Technology Conference.
