ABSTRACT
The article offers suggestions to credit union (CU) executives on how mergers need strong leadership. It says that the first step in mergers is establishing the leadership of the continuing CU, for which the chief executive officers (CEOs) from two or more credit unions can decide. It discusses the combination of two executive teams into a single leadership structure. The three types of board engagement in mergers are the proactive board, the minimally engaged board, and the responsive board.
