Examines the nanostructure of Sm[sub 2]Fe[sub 17]N[sub x]-based magnets by transmission electron microscopy. Separation of the grains by zinc-rich phase; Effects of gamma-FeZn on the lattice planes in grain boundary region; Provision of magnetic decoupling in the grains by nonmagnetic phase.
