ABSTRACT
Examines the influence of silver-gold (Au) and silver-copper (Ag-Au) alloy substrates on the superconducting properties of Bi[sub 2]Sr[sub 2]CaCu[sub 2]O[sub x] (Bi-2212). Increase in the Au content of the Ag-Au alloy; Microstructure of Bi-2212; Enhancement of the superconductor critical current density.

Zone melting has been used to produce texture in extruded YBa2Cu3O6+x wires. Highly aligned microstructures are produced with a-b planes oriented along the axis of the wires.
