Examines plasmas expecting efficient x-ray laser frequency near-doubling for x-ray lasers using four-wave mixing with neodymium or KrF lasers. Generation of tunable x-ray radiation; Application of ions with two isoelectronic sequences for x-ray four-wave mixing; Disadvantage of using sodium-like ions as a four-wave mixing nonlinear media.
