ABSTRACT
The article discusses whether the increased risk for breast cancer associated with estrogen plus progestin hormone therapy in postmenopausal women continue after treatment is stopped. A randomized placebo-controlled trial was conducted on 16 608 postmenopausal women in the age group of 50 to 79 in the U.S. The results showed that the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women who had taken estrogen plus progestin hormone therapy was not increased.
