ABSTRACT
The author, who is a swimming coach at Sierra Marlins in the U.S., discusses the development of a distance swimming training group. His philosophy is that the only way to race fast is to train fast, threshold training is boring to coach and swim and what is done is not as important as how it is done. He asserts that they are a developmental program that teaches fundamentals and develops young athletes.
