ABSTRACT
The article documents the third and fourth battles of the Isonzo in Slovenia waged by Italy against the Hapsburg Empire from October to December 1915. Italian army Chief of Staff General Luigi Cadorna played a significant role in the battles. The Big Trench on Mount Mrzli was recaptured at the end of September but lose it when Austria launched its counterattack. Other Italian military officers involved in the battles include corps commander General Luigi Capello, General Pietro Frugoni and divisional commander General Fortunato Marazzi.
