We develop a rigorous mathematical model describing axisymmetric eigenmodes of magnetic type of open resonators with spherical mirrors. On the assumption that the spectrum of complex eigenfrequencies of an open resonator exists, it is proved that this spectrum is discrete and has finite...

Abstract. We apply the technique of nonlinear mirror (NLM) mode-locking to a pulsed diode-pumped, actively mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. Either effective pulse compression or pulse amplitude control regimes are achieved, depending on the NLM configuration. Operating the NLM as a fast saturable...

  • HOW A LASER DIODE WORKS.  // APC (Bauer Media Group);Sep2008, Vol. 28 Issue 9, p11

The article presents information on the working of a laser diode. A laser diode is made from two pieces of semiconducting materials sandwiched together between electrodes. Electrons, which are repeatedly excited by a current applied across the device, give up their extra energy in the form of...

A new approach to investigating the leakage of nonequilibrium holes and electrons from the active region of a semiconductor laser diode is proposed. According to this, the scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy is used to measure averaged local changes in the contact potential difference on the...
