ABSTRACT
The article discusses that the conservative policies followed by the central bank of Saudi Arabia have made the economic recovery of Saudi banks possible, despite the losses suffered by the country's banks in the year 2008. It is reported that the country's 12 local banks recorded their biggest ever fall in net profits in 2008. But all of them remained profitable without the government's help. It is stated that their strong balance sheets and healthy capital bases have protected them.
