ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the production of pinot meunier wine in the U.S. It informs that American wineries are fermenting pinot meunier on the skins and making red table wine instead of making white wine like the French. Two California wineries, August Briggs and Bouchai ne Vineyards report that the variety is sold the fastest. In the U.S. there are only 200 acres currently planted, whereas there are 26,000 acres planted in Champagne, France, none of which is used to make red wine.
