ABSTRACT
Demonstrates the formation of a two-dimensional metal photonic band-gap (PBG) cavity by microwave experiments and numerical simulation. Calculation for the photonic band structure for a two-dimensional array; Creation of a resonant defect mode by a single cylinder; Details on the appearance of a resonance corresponding to the defect mode.
