Examines the application of palladium/cobalt (Pd/Co) multilayers for perpendicular magnetic recording media. Capability of the multilayers to generate a large signal amplitude; Mechanism for chromium alloying of Co layer; Reduction in demagnetization energy of the magnetic layer.
