ABSTRACT
Examines the influence of surface hardness and surface topology on the value and direction of pretilt angle of a liquid crystal alignment achieved by the rubbing technique. Production of the grooves on a soft surface; Direction of the liquid crystal molecules; Application of the results in fabricating a vertically aligned nematic liquid crystal display.
