ABSTRACT
Examines the growth spirals in bulk single crystal of high-temperature superconducting YBa[sub 2]Cu[sub 3]O[sub 7]. Use of scanning tunneling microscopy; Resolution of growth steps into substeps with each perovskite block; Association of screw dislocation with growth spirals; Conditions favorable for optimum flux pinning in the superconducting system.
